Abraham lived in tents, a nomad in the land promised to him. He never saw a city, a foundation, or a permanent structure that was his own. His entire life was spent looking forward, dwelling in temporary shelters.
Yet, the scripture says he was looking for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
His faith was not in the tangible, not in the immediate possession of the land, but in the character and promise of the One who cannot lie. He trusted the Architect's blueprint more than his own eyesight.
Is it not happening even now?. We often grow impatient waiting for God's promises. We look at the "tents" of our current circumstances—our struggles, delays, and temporary situations—and we despair, wondering if God has forgotten.
But faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is trusting that the Unseen Architect is building something eternal, something with unshakable foundations, even when all we have is the blueprint of His promise.
How many times have we chosen the immediate, temporary structure built by human hands over the eternal city being prepared by God?.
Learn from Abraham; Fix your eyes not on the temporary tent you live in,but on the eternal city God is building for you. Your current address is temporary, but your destination is divine.
Let faith be your sight!
---
For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2 CORINTHIANS 5:1).
